The programme "Cognitive Sciences" was established in 2011. The Cognitive Sciences represent an emerging field in the research landscape of Vienna. The Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF) wishes to promote projects focusing on cognitive science, which aim to extend our understanding of cognitive processes in humans, animals and machines. Supported projects will primarily be those which interdisciplinary promote research of cognitive processes. Such research is at the interface between the natural, technical, and social sciences. The aim is to improve our understanding of our brain's workings and methods of functioning. Empirical data is a substantial component of the research projects in this programme.
Earlier calls
The third WWTF Call “Cognitive Sciences" is completed. Proposals had to bring together two to three different disciplines to address innovative research questions in order to advance the understanding of cognition in humans, animals or artificial systems. Improving the interconnectedness of different research areas within the call theme was another key element of this call.
