Eligible for submitting a project proposal are researchers via their Vienna home institutions (the contract will be concluded with the institution, for universities it is a § 27 project according to Austrian University Law). With regard to the Vienna Research Groups, the submission is accomplished via a “proponent” at a Vienna research institution / university. Specific eligibility is defined in the respective call documents.
“Research institutions” are defined as universities and extra-university research institutions. If individual researchers apply for funding, an appropriate embedding in a Vienna research institution is mandatory for funding. Principal investigators are generally employed at a Vienna research institution. This includes researchers coming to Vienna as a result of a call.
For-profit companies are not eligible for funding but can be project partners.
